Behind the scenes of Four Senses, cooking show for the Blind
Season 2 of my cooking show with Carl Heinrich, Four Senses, premieres this Friday, January 23, at 7 PM on AMI!It’s still kind of surreal to think I have my own TV show. Sometimes, the hubs pauses and goes, “Can you believe you won ‘MasterChef’?” And then I go, “Nope.”But there it is: my cooking show I co-host with winner of “Top Chef” Canada season 2 and chef extraordinaire of Richmond Station, Carl Heinrich. And we didn’t get canceled after one season!Instead, as one would hope, season 2 is bigger and better than season 1: larger set, additional cameras, and more field shoots for an all-around bigger production.A question I hear often since the inception of Four Senses is, “How can I watch your show if I’m not in Canada?” Well, dear fans, I’m happy to say AMI now has a fully accessible online media player available on their website so you can watch all episodes of Four Senses online. Currently, Four Senses season 1 is available online, but episodes from season 2 will be available shortly after their network airing, too.Season 2 was more laborious to shoot, but good things never come easily. I had a week of field shoots, a week of media, followed by a week of in-studio filming where we shot the entire 13-episode season straight, two episodes a day. I wish I’d snapped a photo of the cast and crew every day throughout the three weeks and made a flip book of how more disoriented and disheveled we become with each passing day. Mad props to everyone on crew, from cameras to producers, and especially Sarah Sweeney, our culinary director who had to recreate our dishes for each episode on very limited time and budget.Last but not least, the hubs visited me in Toronto for some of the season’s shoot and created the awesome Four Senses behind-the-scenes Blind Life episode above. Happy watching, everyone, and don't forget to tune in Friday for FS season 2! xoxo
