Everything seafood at Pearl Diver in Toronto

Even after Rodney’s Oyster House, I couldn’t get enough seafood in Toronto. On another evening, I met up Jenna, friend and co-blogger at NMO Diaries, for some ocean eats at Pearl Diver. Pearl Diver was sort of a newcomer on the restaurant scene at the time, and I’d heard good things about their seafood circus tower, which is a multi-level platter available for half off during happy hour.We ordered the seafood circus tower as soon as we arrived since it’s a popular item, and we didn’t want to risk it being 86ed (restaurant lingo for something getting removed, in this case, from the menu). At first, we were told our table was only allowed to order one tower, but after checking with the kitchen, they allowed us two. So note that there could be limits placed on how many per table.Pearl Diver chicken liver & oyster pateWe also tried the chicken liver and oyster pâté (funky in a good way) and the sardines (which are becoming trendy for being high in omega-3 acids and sustainable, I.e. Good for the environment).Since Pearl Diver is considered a gastropub that primarily serves seafood, I would imagine their menu changes seasonally and according to the chef’s whim. This means what I had at Pearl Diver in October may not be what you’ll have in June. Regardless of when you go, I’d call ahead or do some digging around online to find out when certain items are discounted. Fresh seafood can get expensive, so it feels that much better when you can get it for less.Where’s your favorite place to have oysters or fresh seafood in Toronto?Pearl Diver sardinesPearl Diver100 Adelaide St. EastToronto, ON M5C 1K9CanadaPhone: +1 416 366-7827
