Artisanal pizzas to go with artisanal beers at Russian River Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa, California

Almost every time wee visit the Bay area, the hubs has to make a trip up to Santa Rosa to fill his beer quota at Russian River Brewing Co.. A few of Russian River’s beers have been named some of the top beers in the world, and because they’re not available in our home state of Texas, we usually stow a few bottles away in our check-in bags.We arrived about fifteen minutes before doors opened on a Saturday morning, and there was already a line about thirty people deep. We made it in with the first seating, though, and immediately ordered a flight of beers. Others in our group ordered a pint. We also got a pizza to share since we needed something to soak up the alcohol in our empty stomachs. My favorite pizza at Russian River Brewing is the Lola, which is topped with mozzarella, marinara, sausage, corn, onion, jalapeño, and cilantro. (I just can’t resist anything with corn and cilantro!)The ambience is casual, perfect for a weekend afternoon spent with some friends eating and imbibing. You can walk away with filled growlers or individual bottles. Santa Rosa may be a bit out of the way, but Russian River Brewing is definitely worth a visit if you’re into beer.Protip: Find out when their seasonal beers are tapped and plan accordingly—Pliney the Younger is only available during certain winter months, for example.Into beer?
