Excellent tapas at Barrafina in London

I love me some tapas. My palate gets bored easily so the best way for me to dine is to have a variety of dishes from which I can nibble. Three bites, and I’m ready to move on.Barrafina fulfills all my food fantasies. A Spanish tapas restaurant located in the hip neighborhood of Soho, Barrafina is a small tapas bar serving thoughtful, unfussy food. The service, too, is quick and thorough. There’s nothing not to adore about this place: attentive servers delivering well-executed small plates in a quiet, unadorned, casual setting. It’s everything I want in a restaurant. The hubs and I arrived just minutes after opening, and almost half the seats were filled. My advice is go early to avoid a wait. The space is small, and we happily chose to sit at the bar. Our server recommended a crisp white wine for me and a beer for the hubs. Then we ordered away.No dish was disappointing. The octopus was simple and tender, the tomato with goat cheese fresh, the cuttlefish and chickpeas in squid ink unique. Our consensual favorites of the evening were the fried squash blossom stuffed with goat cheese and the super fresh prawns which we loved so much, we ordered seconds. Jamon croquettes, beet root, and Iberico pork and potatoes were just icing on the cake, pushing our bellies way over our belt line. The meal isn’t cheap, but the money goes into the quality of the food, beverages, and staff. It’s the perfect place to enjoy solid tapas without pretention. And for that kind of dining experience? Practically priceless.Barrafina26-27 Dean St.London W1D 3LLUnited KingdomPhone: +44 20 7813-8016Christine & John at London Eye
